Attendance Requested at December’s STAHI Meeting
STAHI Member:

The regular meeting scheduled for 6PM Tuesday 12/20/22 is an important meeting as we will be holding an election for officers and reviewing and hopefully approving a budget for 2023. No NYS CE is scheduled but we will have an educational component.

We still have no candidate for Secretary and need a responsible member to step up to fill that position. These activities require quorum. At least eleven members must be present to take any action on an election or budget. Otherwise, there is no point in meeting and things will have to wait until January.

Please register to attend the meeting at YourCE by the end of today to show that you will attend the scheduled Zoom meeting. If I don’t have ten responses by Saturday morning i will have to cancel the meeting.
Thank You.

Larry Ames, President
Candidate needed for Secretary position

Hi ALL,

Despite Larry contacting multiple members with regard to serving as officers, there is no candidate yet for the position of Secretary.  Frank Macak has served with distinction for six years and unfortunately will not be able to continue for personal reasons.  Jamie Arnold has agreed to serve as STAHI’s “Tech Czar” to support a Secretary in matters of technology and communications and that is very much appreciated.  The primary duties of the Secretary will remain: preparing meeting minutes monthly; STAHI record-keeping; communications with the membership and others (along with and with the support of the President).  The position of Secretary is vital to STAHI and we need a responsible member to step up to do that job for our organization.  Please contact Larry.

Thank you.

December’s meeting agenda will be posted soon.

Duties of the STAHI Secretary

Hi All,

Below is the description of the duties of the secretary, which will hopefully help the future secretary to better understand his/her duties. Frank M. is stepping down at the end of this year, so we need to find someone willing to take the secretary position. Feel free to nominate someone, or if you are interested
to step up, please contact Larry Ames, president.

Duties of the STAHI Secretary:

  1. Recording the meeting minutes during monthly meetings

  2. Posting recorded minutes on the STAHI.org website in a form of a New Post, which is set up to notify all members that the minutes were posted and provides a link for viewing, but also in the Forum section under the Meeting Minutes so that they are chronologically accessible unlike in the Posts.

  3. Sending out notifications of upcoming meetings, events, reminders, or any other communication from the leadership. The notifications are sent using a Mail Poet plugging app on the STAHI.org website. [Future secretary will have an Editor or Admin privilege to be able to use the app.]

  4. Keeping all meeting minutes, meeting agendas, letters to the NYS, and other communication records in a STAHI folder on my computer, with a backup version on a thumb drive, which will be passed on to the new secretary.

  5. Keeping track of the active membership numbers for a valid Quorum at the meetings, determining a Quorum at the meetings, and keeping the roster.

  6. Secretary also posts various Polls on the STAHI website and also keeps track of interest for various events, when the opinion/interest of the membership is sought by the leadership to make appropriate decisions.

  7. Secretary is assigned, monitors and utilizes a Secretary@Stahi.org email, which will be transferred to the new secretary, password access will be changed at that time. At the current time, the email is not able to send or receive attachments – we will look into upgrading the plugin to paid type plugin to resolve that issue.

  8. I also update pages of the STAHI.org website as needed, create accounts for new members, delete members that left the organization, post updates to By-Laws, Directory with membership changes, Inspector Search feature, and any other changes or modifications of online pages. [that’s not the secretary’s job, that’s part of the website management]
Electrical CE class added information

From Larry:

Check out this article:

https://www.jadelearning.com/blog/2020-nec-service-disconnects/

Excerpts:

“NEC Section 230.71. Six Switches or Circuit Breakers in One Enclosure”

“The NEC in 2020 has erased our antiquated method of installing six circuit breakers in one enclosure to serve as a building’s service disconnect. The reason? Bundling multiple service disconnect switches inside one enclosure makes it impossible to comply with NFPA 70E Standards for Electrical Safety in the Workplace when it comes to safe work practices applied to service equipment. “

Tom Sherman added clarification:

“Thanks Larry. Yes, this is correct and I believe consistent with what we discussed Tuesday night. These installations are not permitted under the NEC. However, there is no rule requiring them to be removed or changed on existing installs. (Unless there is something I’m not aware of.) Thanks for digging into this!”

Thank you guys
